is a non-profit group that fosters pride of place, buzz, excitement, fun, quirkiness, and design in our neighborhood. Through the community-centered projects they support, they celebrate all that's unique about West Berkeley – the history, industry, arts, people, and nature. It is hyper-local in focus and impact.
Since organizing in 2019, Commotion has funded three murals painted by local artists, a pop-up performance event series, community gardens and portable planters, a sustainable fashion show, and more.

Many children are fascinated by the world of construction. Toddlers might run to the window to point at a passing truck, or halt a walk to the playground to watch a construction crew at work. Some come to carpentry later, wanting to build a fort or a piece of furniture.
Do you know any young builders? West Berkeley is home to at least three sites that transform children’s curiosity into creativity by teaching them how to safely use hand tools.
